Annual General Meeting
Notification is given of the fifth Annual General Meeting to be held at 69 Light Street, Casino NSW on Thursday November 22, 2007 commencing at 10 am has been sent to all shareholders.
In accordance with the Constitution of the Company, two directors retire by rotation (Les Towell and Terry Childs). Both Les and Terry have indicated their willingness to stand for re-election. The Board of Directors has continued to operate in a positive and harmonious manner, with lively discussion at all Board meetings. The most important thing is that at the end of the day, when all opinions and thoughts are considered, we all go away satisfied that the best possible decisions have been made for the Company's benefit, irrespective of who came up with which idea or point. That is what makes our Board tick and it shows when you look at the growth achieved throughout the Village in the last twelve months and we look forward to continuing this pro-active work for our shareholders in the coming year.
Operational Update
The Runway Cafe is now leased to two local sisters who provide breakfasts, morning and afternoon teas, lunches, and bistro meals on Friday night. Diane and Rhonda also provide catering for special events.
Tassie Week saw a friendly invasion from across the creek and a week of fun and stupidity, shared by both our tourist guests and residents. Activities such as cork spitting resulted in much laughter, especially from those who have the handicap of dentures. The disc bowls challenge Mainlanders -v- Tassie Tigers was won for the first time by the Mainlanders and thanks to Liz Price an ex Taswegian now living in the Village, we have a beautiful timber perpetual trophy in the shape of the Apple Island - and to think it was designed to be used as a cheese board. We look forward to another invasion next year - watch out in 2010 if the motorhome rally is held in the Great Southern Isle, we will return the favour.
The National Camp Oven Festival will be held for the second alternate year October 5-6-7, 2007. The program will be more comprehensive than our first endeavour and the Camp Oven Shed (under construction as we write) will be fully utilised with demonstrations, hands on lessons and cook off competitions. If you have never learnt the finer arts of camp oven cooking, this is YOUR opportunity. Check out a special website - www.campoven.com.au. We do ask that you book your site promptly as already there is huge interest.
Housing Update
The demand in the manufactured housing precinct continues, with new residents from all parts of Australia - the only area missing is the Northern Territory. The homes being chosen can only be described as first class for this style of construction. Individuality is enhanced by the selection of gardens - ranging from native shrubs to cottage style and everything in between. Cottage accommodation has been taken up eagerly by solos and minimalistic couples. These smaller versions of the houses are ideal as a home base without the upkeep of a larger dwelling. Roadworks are now underway for stage 2, which will provide another 10 cottages. If you are interested in these realistically priced units (base prices around $100,000), please email housing@casinovillage.com.au or phone 02 6662 1069 and we can send out a set of plans.
Infrastructure for Stage 4 of houses awaits construction of the waste water treatment plant. As soon as layout plans are available, we will advise all who have expressed interest in taking up a block in this sector.
Christmas and New Year festivities will see travellers who wish to get away from the madding crowd make the Village their base. Santa will still find you here - we accept all parcels on your behalf.
